Dee and Sue Baker of the Grizzly Claw Trading Company graciously offer their store as the venue for Open Book Club presentations. Every author who has read in Seeley Lake has appreciated the opportunity and praised the level of audience participation.

The Open Book Club is free and open to anyone interested in writing, reading and writers. It offers an intimate setting in which to meet an author and discuss the challenges of writing and publishing as well as to explore the ideas and inspirations of literary pursuit.

Pete Fromm

Author Pete Fromm will be reading from his novels and short Stories. Pete Fromm’s fiction and nonfiction have won the Pacific Northwest Bookseller Association’s “Book of The Year” for an impressive four times. His work includes, Indian Creek Chronicles, Dry Rain, As Cool As I Am, Night Swimming and Blood Knot. His movies include Dry Rain and As Cool As I Am.

Mary Clearman Blew

Author Mary Clearman Blew will be reading from her new work, This Is Not The Ivy League. Mary Clearman Blew's education began at home, on a remote cattle ranch in Montana. She graduated to a one-room school, then escaped, via scholarship, to the University of Montana, still in her teens, she met and married her first husband. This Is Not The Ivy League is her account of that girl, and then that woman - pressured by husband and parents to be a conventional wife of the 1950's. Her short fiction has been included in th O. Henry Prize and Best American Short Stories anthology Blew is the recipient of two Montana Awards in the Humanities of the H. G. Merriam Award for Distinguished Contribution to Montana Literature.

Sharon Lamar

Author Sharon Lamar will be reading and doing a presentation on her book Mountain Wildflowers For Young Explorers, a fact-filled and beautifully illustrated guide adults can share with the budding botanists in their lives. Mountain Wildflowers For Young Explorers depicts 26 flowers common to Western mountains and valleys, and is packed with extras, a section notes each plant’s tradition significance to Native peoples. This fun and fascinating book is sure to inspire kids and grownups alike to get outside and scour the mountainsides for beautiful buds and blossoms.
